A play made of conversations
Kowalski spoke to more than 400 visitors: pensioners on their way to the box office, school classes, a night porter who has worked in the building for 31 years. Their sentences appear in the play almost word for word, spoken by an ensemble of six.
What works and what does not
The first hour is funny and precise, especially a scene in which three generations argue about the right moment to applaud. After the interval the play loses its thread, and some of the monologues feel more like interviews than theatre.
Tickets
Open House runs until December on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Tickets cost between 12 and 34 euros, and every performance keeps 40 seats at 5 euros for holders of a city pass.
