How we report, check and correct
We publish what we can confirm from our own reporting or from at least two independent sources. Every article names its author, and the byline links to a page about that person.
Opinion pieces and reviews are marked as opinion in the first line. Sponsored content does not exist at the Courier; advertisers have no say in what we write.
Every article shows when it was published and, if it changed, when it was last updated. Small changes such as a typo are fixed without a note.
When we get a fact wrong, we correct it in the article and add a note at the end that says what changed and when. Write to corrections@example.org if you find a mistake.
Questions about our work
Missing something? Write to the newsroom and we will add the answer here.
Do you use anonymous sources?
Only when a person would face serious harm if named and the information cannot be confirmed in another way. At least two editors know the identity of every anonymous source, and the article explains why the source is not named.
Do you use artificial intelligence?
We do not publish text, images or headlines generated by AI. Reporters may use software to transcribe interviews; every quote is checked against the recording before it is published.
Who decides what you publish?
The editor in chief and the desk editors. The cooperative board appoints the editor in chief but has no say in individual articles.
How are reporters paid?
All staff are paid according to the regional collective agreement for newspaper journalists. Freelancers receive a fixed fee per article, published in our accounts.
Can I ask you to remove an article?
We do not remove accurate reporting. We do update articles when new facts emerge and, after a court decision or for people who were minors at the time, we remove names on request.
