Alderbank Commons
A garden, a repair café and a tool library, run by neighbors.
We are a neighborhood association of about 180 members. Everyone is welcome at our events; members decide together what happens next.

What we do together
Six things that happen because neighbors give a few hours of their time.
Community garden
Forty raised beds behind the old school, shared by families, a kindergarten and the care home next door.
Repair café
Every first Saturday: bring a broken toaster, lamp or bike and fix it with a volunteer.
Tool library
Borrow a drill, a ladder or a sewing machine for a week, free for members.
Neighborhood meetings
Four times a year we talk about the street, the park and what the council plans.
Workshops
Composting, bike repair and sewing, taught by members who know how.
Street festival
Once a year in September, organized by volunteers and open to everyone.

Most of our work happens on Saturday mornings, with coffee, gloves and whoever turns up.
No experience needed. Someone always shows you how.

Repair café
Fix it together instead of throwing it away.
On the first Saturday of every month, volunteers with tools and patience sit down with you and your broken device. Last year we looked at 214 repairs, and two of three worked.
Repairs are free. A donation for spare parts is welcome.
The next date and the opening times are on the events page.
