A settlement agreement ends a job on terms both sides accept. Once you sign it, you usually give up the right to bring most claims later, so read it slowly and ask questions first.
- The date your employment ends and your last pay
- The amount, and whether tax is due on it
- A reference you can live with
- What you may say about the agreement afterwards
Many employers pay part of the fee for independent advice on the agreement. Ask for it in writing.
This guide is general information and does not replace advice on your own case.
