We spent a winter testing clays and glazes before we settled on ours.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Weight first<\/h2>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A good mug feels a little heavier than it looks. Stoneware fired at 1,240 \u00b0C is dense enough to keep coffee warm for a few minutes longer, and thick enough at the rim that it never feels sharp.<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A glaze that ages well<\/h2>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We chose a sand glaze over white. Small marks from spoons and years of washing blend in instead of standing out, and every batch comes out of the kiln a shade different.<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Made close to home<\/h2>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our mugs are thrown and fired by a family workshop two hours from Berlin.
